In the comfort of a lounge, an exceptional meeting with Murano artist and historian Marco Toso Borella who, using his extraordinary wealth of knowledge as well as his particular narrative charisma, will enchant guests with a historical and artistic overview of the island of Murano while Venetian spritz and cicheti are served.

A demonstration of Murano Artistic Glass craftsmanship accompanied by an intense historical narration by the greatest expert on the history and art of the island of Murano: Marco Toso Borella.

MURANO LECTIO MAGISTRALIS
A compelling and rigorous in-depth look at the history and art of the island with Murano artist and historian Marco Toso Borella, to understand why the island of Murano is still synonymous with “Glass” in the world today, how the Serenissima Republic developed the first industrial district in history here, what risks Murano has faced over the centuries, and what the current challenges of the Glass world are.

THE GRAFFITO EXPERIENCE
A rare and unique opportunity to experience a millenary artistic technique that has now almost completely disappeared and of which Marco Toso Borella is considered the world’s leading exponent. Guided by the artist, guests will be able to experience firsthand “graffito on gold leaf applied to Murano Glass plates,” leaving their mark on works of art that will then be exhibited in galleries and museums, thus composing a true “widespread and participatory work of art.”

THE GRAFFITO EXPERIENCE
A rare and unique opportunity to learn about the authentic history of Byzantine mosaic and its relationship with Venice and Murano through the studies and family tradition of one of the last artists in the world to use an artistic technique that descends from the ancient tradition of the mosaics decorating St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, the Basilica of San Donato in Murano, and the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta in Torcello. The Master will also present samples and allow guests to witness the realization of some phases of the artistic process that is at the base of the entire Venetian mosaic tradition.

WALKING WITH THE ARTIST
An artist’s walk with Master Marco Toso Borella, who will accompany visitors to discover his Glass Stations of the Cross inside the Basilica of San Donato and many other curiosities and beauties of the island of Murano.
