In the Book of Genesis, Babel is the tower that symbolizes humanity’s challenge to the Divine—the ultimate cause behind the scattering of peoples across the world and the chaos of languages.
In an era dominated by digital hyper-communication, Marco Toso Borella explores the paradox of incommunicability—the eternal conflicts between ideals, values, and identities, and the seemingly limitless boundaries born from the collapse of the Pillars of Hercules of all human logic.

Today’s Babel.
The app that is life itself,
constantly requiring updates, lest we face oblivion.

The artworks in the “Babel” exhibition serve as a metaphysical battlefield, where 21st-century conflicts—from artificial intelligence to social media alienation—clash with archetypal figures.
New mythological monsters that demand the courage of explorers navigating the hidden realms of the soul and psyche: modern-day Don Quixotes, Dantes, and Ulysseses aboard a hope embodied in a new Noah’s Ark—which ultimately becomes a message in a bottle, a vox clamantis in deserto.
Marco Toso Borella’s dreamlike world emerges from the layered depth of his metaphysical subjects to offer visitors an immersive experience in a piece of Venetian history: the rediscovery of an ancient artistic technique destined for oblivion, yet still capable of speaking to today’s world and its conflicts.

“An ancient language attempting to reconstruct that tower of identity built over centuries on the island of Murano.”
