A work by MTB exhibited at the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 23, THE PUBLIC PRESENTATION AT 11:30 AM IN THE PRESENCE OF THE AUTHOR.

On the occasion of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista presents the work “The True Man Show” created by master Marco Toso Borella, a Murano glass artist and member of the Scuola’s confraternity, which will remain on display inside the building from December 23, 2025, until January 11, 2026, accessible for free during opening hours.

The work, which is a contemporary example of the millenary Byzantine artistic technique of “Graffito on 24k gold leaf,” reworked by the master according to his family’s centuries-old Murano tradition, tells of a very provocative nativity that questions the true meaning of Christmas and its symbols, in a dialogue with the history of the city of Venice and the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista.

Tuesday, December 23 at 11:30 AM the master will be present at the Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista to present the work and explore its multiple meanings in depth.
For the occasion, the master will exceptionally allow guests to discover the ancient artistic technique of graffito on gold leaf up close, even allowing them to actively participate in the drawing of a new work in progress.

The work “The True Man Show” will remain on display inside the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista until January 11, 2026, and can be visited for free during opening hours.

It will also be included in the guided tour itineraries offered by the Scuola upon reservation.
