The polyptych “NATIVITÀ – The True Man Show” presented to the public

The public presentation of the new work by Marco Toso Borella took place on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. It will remain on free display at the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista until January 11, 2026: “NATIVITÀ – The True Man Show”, a significant contemporary example of the thousand-year-old Byzantine artistic technique of “Graffito on 24k gold leaf”, reworked by the Master according to the centuries-old Murano tradition of his family.

The work, a large-scale polyptych, tells of a Nativity that questions, even provocatively, the true meaning of Christmas and its symbols, in a dialogue with the history of the city and of the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista itself.

The public presentation was attended, among others, by the Master himself, the Guardian Grando of the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista Franco Bosello, and city councilor Giovanni Giusto representing the City of Venice.

On this occasion, the master exceptionally offered guests the opportunity to directly discover the ancient artistic technique of graffito on gold leaf, also allowing them to actively participate in the drawing of a new work in progress.

The “NATIVITÀ – The True Man Show” will be exhibited from December 23, 2025, until January 11, 2026, at the foot of the monumental Renaissance staircase by Mauro Codussi.
The visit will be free of charge according to opening hours, with access from the Sala Verde (ticket office), and will also be included in all the tour itineraries offered by the Scuola.
