VOCAL SKYLINE LIGHTS UP CHRISTMAS IN THE SQUARES OF MESTRE AND VENICE

Friday, November 21, the lighting of the Christmas lights in Piazza Ferretto in Mestre and Saturday, November 22 in Piazza San Marco in Venice. The event begins at 6:00 PM

As has become a long-standing tradition, Vocal Skyline will light up Christmas in the city’s squares.
The event will take place in Piazza Ferretto in Mestre on Friday, November 21 at 6:00 PM and on Saturday, November 22 in Piazza San Marco in Venice, also at 6:00 PM. Free admission.

The lighting of the Christmas lights marks the beginning of the intense Christmas concert tour for the choral universe led by Marco Toso Borella: Vocal Skyline and Big Vocal Orchestra will be engaged in a program of high-profile concerts, including four performances of the Big Vocal Orchestra’s new show “The show must go on,” scheduled at the Teatro Goldoni in Venice on Saturday, December 20 and Sunday, December 22 and at the Teatro Del Monaco in Treviso on Tuesday, January 6(tickets nearly sold out, last remaining available on the Teatro Stabile Veneto website).

Great anticipation also surrounds the “Big” events in the squares, the traditional appointment with the Big Vocal Orchestra in Mestre on December 27 and in Venice on December 29.

Since 2012, Vocal Skyline and Big Vocal Orchestra have established themselves as the most representative choral universe of the city of Venice, the true “official voice” of the city, with over 300 choristers regularly involved. The Big Vocal Orchestra is recognized as the largest choir in Italy, but the record is also international as it ranks among the most numerous permanent choral formations in the world. A true Venetian phenomenon, featuring the voices of Vocal Skyline as its leading protagonists, the “vocal horizon” and artistic front of all Big Vocal Orchestra performances.

What surprises and attracts an ever-growing audience is not only the vocal impact of the large number of voices but above all a repertoire that is cross-genre, vibrant, always original, engaging, with great scenic and emotional impact, thanks to the talent of the choristers themselves who transform into true 360-degree performers and enrich the show with theatrical readings, choreography, and vibrant solo performances. But what leaves those who attend the performances even more speechless is that all, absolutely all the voices, including the soloists who represent some of the most exceptional voices in the region, are amateur singers, not professionals, next-door talents who pursue the most varied professions in the city and then transform into artists with a capital A on stage.

“A true shared passion – explains director Marco Toso Borella, an internationally recognized Murano glass artist – which has created over the years in the city a “community” of over 300 families intertwined by this artistic and cultural experience that has profound social impact. Active citizenship expressed through art, singing, and the presentation of a show always capable of moving, engaging, and inspiring thought is the mirror of a city, Venice, that still has much to say to the world artistically, that knows how to be much more than a showcase, that knows how to be the protagonist of its own beauty by weaving relationships among those who truly live this city every day”.

For the lighting of the Christmas lights, the choir will present a repertoire suitable for everyone, with famous musical theater numbers, well-known pop masterpieces from international music arranged in highly original choral versions, bold medleys that blend opera and grunge, opera and spirituals, without forgetting some timeless Christmas songs. A show in which the audience can fully participate, have fun, be moved, and feel emotion.

The event is organized by the Municipality of Venice and Vela Spa. Admission is free.
