The Big Vocal Orchestra, conducted by Marco Toso Borella, had the honor and privilege of enlivening the community liturgical celebration on Sunday, March 15, at the Basilica dei Frari in Venice with their singing. The 200 Venetian voices, arranged on the magnificent wooden choir stalls—the only example in Venice of a church with a central choir—accompanied the celebration by singing during the various liturgical moments. A composed and intense mass that erupted into a joyful gospel song only at its conclusion, before a very large congregation.
The mass was preceded on Friday by open rehearsals, which allowed parishioners and visitors alike to attend the song practice and thus participate in the choir’s singing.
