ELEUSA

Eleusa stages the short-circuit between the sacred and the profane. The upper section is dominated by the ineffable certainty of dogma, depicted according to the stylistic elements of Orthodox iconography codified by Pavel Florensky: a Virgin Hodegetria with a steadfast gaze points to her Son as the Way. Below, the earthly dimension turns fragile: a contemporary mother, her uncertain name obscured by overlapping scrolls, casts a lost glance. Her Child seeks tenderness, yet his hand no longer points anywhere; disoriented, she tries to find her bearings through a smartphone locator, whose apple logo is already entwined in the coils of the serpent.
