On the occasion of the Premio San Marco 2026, Marco Toso Borella was awarded the “PREMIO CITTADINANZA”. The ceremony, which took place in the Sala del Maggior Consiglio of the Doge’s Palace in Venice on April 25th, the feast day of Saint Mark, patron saint of Venice, began with a performance by the Big Vocal Orchestra, which delivered a moving interpretation of the Italian National Anthem together with Spirto di Dio, a contemporary reinterpretation of the madrigal that had been sung aboard the Bucintoro for the Festa della Sensa since 1736, and finally an original and solemn version of the Hymn of Saint Mark.
The Maestro’s award ceremony took place at the beginning of the event, with the choir members arranged as if in an embrace to share in the recognition of their director among the Venetian and metropolitan excellences.
The Premio Festa di San Marco, now in its eighth edition, is an event that aims to celebrate the many people, both individuals and associations, who work actively in everyday life and contribute to making the metropolitan area of Venice a unique and exceptional place. The intention is to present a symbolic honor to citizens and organizations who, with dedication, have brought prestige through concrete achievements in the sciences, arts, industry and crafts, work, sports, education, or through social, charitable, and philanthropic initiatives.
